Away Day Special

?Away Day Special⚽️?

Another tough game against a cracking top team who we know so well, another game where all 7 boys gave 100%, another game where the boys put what they are learning in training into their game ???

With one of our new superstars Fin taking a rest this week ?? the boys knew they would have to battle hard for the whole game……….they more than did this and if anything as the game went on and the more tired they became, their passing got even better!!

As expected it was a very good game, played at a fast rate with some cracking football from both teams.

Defensively we were really strong and frustrated the other team restricting them mainly to long shots, but when they did get the odd shot in then Sam was there, one particular save was outstanding at this level where he read an excellent cross so well and made the right decision to punch the ball clear, straight off the head of their striker ⚽️?? Sam continues to communicate brilliantly to his team mates and his distribution is great. Plus another clean sheet hat trick ?

Will was fantastic yet again, foot perfect, great concentration to read the game so well. He made every single challenge, passed accurately, but impressively he never ever got out of position.

Jude supported him so well in his defensive midfield position, marking brilliantly and as ever working hard in defence and midfield. He also put away our second goal which effectively put us out of reach.

Noah held the middle very well, importantly man marking their key player, this broke the play up and allowed us to go forward! He worked really, really hard and had a couple of his trademark blistering runs forward.

Kai and Ewan held their wing positions really well, both defensively and when attacking. Ewan again showed some fantastic skills getting by his marker and making some great crosses into the box, he also listened to us and had some shots at goal coming really close to scoring, impressive was his defensive play, tracking back and breaking up play on a number of occasions, fantastic. Kai had another strong week, again his work rate improved and he was as busy tracking back as well as going forward. His tenacity helped us secure our first goal, coming close himself! Well done to both boys.

Taylor ran his socks off, putting pressure on his marker and making space for us when going forward. He was so strong in his tackles and battled well winning the ball from nothing. He linked up well with Noah, Kai and Ewan (team work) and scored a cracker, not because it was a 20 yard rocket, but because he wanted the ball more than the opposition, a goal line scramble with Taylor and Kai against 4 of the opposition, there was only going to be one winner ?? (even I get out of the way of Taylor lol). It was a deserved goal for us and summed up the difference between the two teams……

Another goal and another great performance meant Taylor deservedly was our Man of the Match ⚽️? Well done Taylor….

This week we introduced a new award – Training Star ?.

It’s awarded to the boy who puts into practice what we’ve been working on in training. For the past two weeks we’ve been working on positional play and making space. We will talk to the boys before each game about what we’ve been learning in training and then each game look to see them doing it. We may not award it every week, but will see how it goes…

Our first Training Star is Kai?

Thanks to all our parents and supporters, I am sure you enjoyed it as much as the boys…..
