Brave reds dead on their feet with opposition subs the difference.
Friday night and a samosa, beer and footy night at Chez Ramsey watching Scotland defend like donkeys before a wee drop of Cragganmore at the Reindeer before Ramsey and DJ retire in the wee hours. Saturday arrives with LC having multiple illness and injury call offs and Ramsey hopes they can manage 11 as he drives to a wet and squelchy Magna Meadows to peg the nets out only to find the nets aren’t on the goals. AAgh what a start to the day!
Ladder out, nets up and LC welcome Carlton Town Lions from the Premier Division who Ramsey had watched waste Lowdham Blacks 6-1 earlier in the season. Fortunately LC scrape 11 together; the King in goals, Camsterazi, JC, Francisco and Arbuckloa at the back, Shaymar and Redders in front, Jonno, Joe Shaylor and G force as the 3 and Big W up top in the 4-2-3-1 formation that had brought 2 victories and two draws in the last 4 matches. LC have no subs and Carlton have 4 and that proves to be the difference on the day.
Carlton kick off and have the better of the first 15 minutes and look a slick outfit testing the king a couple of times and JC and Francisco having to look lively. LC gradually play their way into the match and the rest of the half is an entertaining affair with LC having the best of the chances with headers and shots from corners and a couple of longer range efforts from Joe Shaylor and Big W just missing. HT 0-0.
Second half and chances at both ends but then Carlton get the decisive goal after bringing on fresh legs which they do throughout the second period. Ten minutes later another well worked goal for 0-2 and LC starting to look tired now but still fighting on. Good chances for Big W and G force but alas good goal keeping or last ditch tackles saving the day. As Ramsey starts to push more men forward Carlton punish on the break for 0-3 and then get a late 4th but LC unlucky not to grab a couple themselves when it seemed easier to score on a couple of occasions and the bounce not falling well for them.
Immense performances all over the pitch and no disgrace to lose to a quick pacy well drilled team. The king MOM but JC and Francisco close behind. We are not having any luck with injuries at present with Cotterillo, Buchanzini, Frazola and Alexandro all out and late illness for Dunners. When we are all back and fit we will waste some teams. You Reds!
