Fortress Gunthorpe sacked by Newark in Reds last home game.

Friday night and Ramsey in Oxford and so no visit to the Reindeer sportsbar. Then up early and a drive back home, a bite to eat and off to Gunthorpe to put up the nets for the last time at LC’s last home game. Ramsey then welcomed Newark who had beaten them 4-3 a couple of months previously.

With Buchanzini and Tobierski injured, Cotterillo reffing and Big W still suspended, LC had twelve which, after playing their last game with 9, seemed like a bumper squad. Last time the teams had met LC had lost the midfield battle early doors and so Ramsey shuffled the pack to try and get more bite in midfield.

Chazzer in goals, Camsterazi, Francisco, Arbuckloa and Shaymar at the back, G force, Redderski and JC in the middle and Alexandro, Dunners and Frazola up top. Jonno on the bench. LC start well with some driving runs from left midfield by JC and G force putting Dunners through a couple of times. The breakthrough comes but at the wrong end as the LC defence get cought and the centre forward finishes coolly for 0-1. Frazola then through 1 on 1 but the Newark keeper saves. JC now back at centre-half and Jonno on. Then a soft penalty with the Newark player backing into Camsterazi who was adjudged to be pulling his arm but justice being done when Chazzer saves the spot kick.

HT 0-1 with Jonno on for Alexandro who has taken a knock. LC a shade unfortunate to be behind in what has been an even contest. Ramsey looks at his phone and sees that the other tangerines have triumphed in the Irn Bru cup final against St Mirren and hopes that LC can make it a double Arab triumph by turning the game around. (NB Dundee United supporters are nicknamed the Arabs)

Second half and the next goal was going to be key. Dunners through on goal after a great through ball but the keeper saving. Then a corner for Newark and a free header in the 6 yard box a disappointing way to lose a goal for Ramsey. LC kept fighting but the Newark tails were up now and they got a third after the centre forward beat Camsterazi and Francisco and slots home. 0-3 it finished the difference being a couple of gilt edged chances that LC didn’t take and some sloppy defending for the second and third goals. Second half was too much hoofball and not enough passing with the best LC moves being swift passing interchanges in the first half. Three games to go. Next up Basford on a 3G pitch. You reds!
