Moorgreen left feeling sick after Reds record another win.
The 4th game of the season saw the Reds take on Moorgreen at Gunthorpe. Morrgreen were an unknown entity as the reds had never come up against one of their sides before.
The day started off badly with the news that Ben Warburton was nursing an illness and would not be involved. That meant a rethink for the gaffer and a selection headache for the game.
When the first whistle blew the lads were off to a flyer, with the ever willing Oliver Babiarz scoring the fastest goal the reds have ever scored. Official time keepers for the day (Jon Gale and Martin freeman) had it at 9.5 seconds and what a finish it was, beating the keeper at his near post with a ferocious strike that Stan the Man Colleymore would have been proud of.
It was a close game with 2 stand out players for Moorgreen who seemed capable of scoring from anywhere on the pitch. They could have scored a hat full but for the heroics in goal from all the keepers on the day. Moorgreen were limited finally to only 3 goals, whilst a brace from Benjamin Babiarz (one a superb half volley top corner finish), and a goal a piece for Cole Deone and Oliver Gale (both adding well taken goals to their tallies for the season) meant the lads ran out 6v3 victors.
Ben Babiarz picked up a very deserving man of the match award not only for his double strike, but for his safe pair of hands in goal, his tough no nonsense tackling and superb passing and link up play between the defence and the striker.
A strong all round performance from all the players involved.
special mention to the managers, coaches, parents and helpers who run the drink and sweet store, help out with training and generally make the environment a special one for all the boys involved.
