Reds lose to a better team on the day
Friday night and DJ, Batesy and Ramsey chew the cud in the Reindeer Sportsbar and after deciding that the Speyburn was better jumped over than drunk ambled down Main St. Saturday and the weather was kind as Ramsey drove to the Memorial ground in Southwell for the Game against Southwell Blue who were second in the table and had beaten LC once this season already.
With Redders away and Camsterazi injured and a couple of late call offs LC lined up with the king in goal, Shaymar, JC, Francisco and Arbuckloa at the back, Buchanzini and Cotterillo in the middle, Dunners, G force and Alexandro as the 3 and Frazola up top. Jonno, Big W and new boy Aaron on the bench.
Southwell started the stronger and for the first 20 minutes gave LC a lesson in total football, passing out from the back and moving the ball forward with movement and purpose. The king was looking lively and just as well pulling off a string of saves. Eventually the breakthrough came with a nice header for 0-1.
LC raised their game a bit with Aaron and Big W now on and a Buchanzini header from a corner the best chance. HT 0-1 and Jonno now on in midfield. The pattern of the game didn’t change much and Southwell deservedly went 2 up. LC then started to play a bit and put Southwell under pressure and when Alexandro brought down Buchanzini slotted it past the keeper for 1-2 and game on with G force and Dunners coming close.
Then a break forward, Shaymar outpaced and JC arrives late and upends the forward. Penalty and JC off for an early bath. The king can’t save and 1-3. 3-3-3 the formation for LC now and the 10 men put on a fine show for the last 15 and come close to pulling another back with Buchy just missing. 1-3 it finished and sometimes you need to just say we lost to a better team, which we did.
Defensively though we were ragged today and plenty to work on on the training ground. We missed Camsterazi’s pace at the back and Redderski’s tenacity. MOM the King with Buchy and G force also looking good and Aaron making a tidy debut. You reds!
