U9 Black and Reds Match Reports

Blacks Match Report

A good performance from the Black team today. And they will get better. All the boys did well in the first game of the season with pouring rain and after a long first week back a school.

The result never looked in doubt. The passing was sublime in parts and the goals were great.

No one boy stood out. It was a good team effort.

The barmy army were fantastic and the Gazebo and Macaroons seemed to go down well. Although Paul and I were starving in the pouring rain.

Thanks to everyone. YOU COLTS!

Reds Match Report

There were a couple of unknowns today;

1) The Opposition Dunkirk Colts – effectively Forest / Pro club elite players who we’ve never played….

2) How our “team” would perform given our fabulous new boys….

The answers –

1) Dunkirk were absolutely superb, I would go as far to say the best passing team we have ever played

2) Brilliantly! Not pretty but where it counts 100% effective

I am not going to do my usual “essay” style report you’ll be glad to read!! I’ll keep it brief.

It was a very tough game. Dunkirk had most of the possession (not something we are used to), but where it “mattered” our Boys were more effective.

Our ability to maintain a high work rate, work for each other and communicate was key in the result.

In defence we were fantastic supporting Will and Sam. Noah, Jude, Kai, Fin, Taylor and Ewan all getting back to support when required and preventing Dunkirk from finishing with a goal from their impressive play, when they did get through either Will or Sam were there to stop them.

We lacked in midfield today and we need to work on this in training, however when we did get forward we were effective. We scored 3 excellent goals and along with our great defending from all our boys this was the difference. Noah, Ewan and Fin took their goals very well and our other chances resulted in a shot coming back off the cross bar and another whistling just past the post.

A great way to start the season and a sign of so much more to come especially when all of our boys are firing on all cylinders.

Our Man of the Match today was Will who was outstanding…Well done Will.

Big thanks to our super parents and supporters, we hope you enjoyed it and a big thanks to Mark Powell for putting up the new Gazebo to keep everybody dry (ish)

It feels like our Saturday’s are back!!!

You Super Colts!!

Julian & Pete

Ps….yes it’s an essay!
