Gedling South Bank V’s Lowdham Blacks

A good morning for football back at Caythorpe Cricket Club (In an away game) saw the Blacks continue their impressive start to the season with a 1 nil win over a strong Gedling team.

If we are honest the boys were sluggish in the first half, It’s to be expected as it’s only the 2nd time the boys have played 50 mins on a 7 aside pitch. Despite the slow start we very rarely looked in trouble, and indeed scored (Cameron) a lovely counter attacking passing goal (I have admit they are my favourite). Although having little to do Owen made a good save from a troublesome long range shot.

The 2nd half was a different story and the effort was fantastic. We pretty much dominated and the passing was a pleasure to watch. Despite this dominance we didn’t add to the score, we didn’t need to. The boys showed great maturity, positional awareness and discipline.

It’s testament to the boys that 2 weeks in a row that the opposition managers have made a point to comment on how well the team pass and find space… Well done boys!

Jimmy got the MOTM today – But it could have been them all.

Thanks to the Barmy Army for all the support!
