U9 Match Reports 5/11/16

U9 Black

What a First Competitive League Match!!!

First of all I have to say it was a pleasure watching such a good game between two evenly matched teams, and the hospitality from Calverton was second to none.

It was a beautiful morning, if not a bit chilly for a what would turn out to be a great derby.

The first half of the game was pretty even with both teams creating good chances from excellent passing moves. Lowdham Edged in front after a short period of pressure with JB continuing his goal scoring run after some good build up play from Brody, James, Dan and Cameron. Calverton kept going and were nearly reward after creating good chances. 0 -1 half time.

Both teams continued to show great industry and good passing in the second half. Lowdham pretty much dominated the possession with wonderful passing and movement. It was a superb solo goal from Ben that sealed the game (Stuart Pearce eat your heart out). Lowdham could have made the game more comfortable and creating a few opportunities, but it was not to be. 0 – 2 final score.

Oggy had a solid game in goal but was really called too much into action, Greavey scored another scream and was solid at the back, Brodes is back – and hurried their players into mistake and distributed the ball so well, Jimmy was his normal midfield general and bossed the game, JB captained the game for the first time and did a great job – he also continued his goal scoring form after another well worked goal, Pazza was fantastic down the right and controlled the right wing, Cams showed great pace down the left and upfront and closed players down well, Eesa was excellent in distributing the ball and tackling and Harry was solid at the back and up front created a few opportunities. Well done boys. Fantastic!

Both teams, coaches, supports and ref should be commended for what was a completely absorbing game of quality football.

?⚽️ Patience is a Virtue! ⚽️?

A fantastic and dominant performance from the Reds who thoroughly deserved their win. At times the passing play between the boys was a sheer joy to watch with applause from both sets of spectators.

The Boys started the game really well, dominating the play and looking very comfortable. They created plenty of chances but were unable to score in the first half, but some of the football being played was exceptional.

Against the run of play and just before half time, the opposition scored from their only shot on goal, to be fair it was an unstoppable shot using that infamous “toe-poke” technique?. However, Our boys lifted their heads and carried on playing great football.

At half time Pete and I told the boys to carry on playing the great football they were playing and that the goals will come…………and they did?

Straight from the start of the second half they remained on top and put pressure on the opposition. It could have and should have been more but two goals sealed the win, one from Jude and the other finished well from Noah. It was more than the boys deserved and a flattering result for the opposition.

All boys performed well this week and this enhanced the team play. The boys are really starting to bond and have confidence in each other and this will strengthen their team play and enjoyment.

The boys;

Sam – only called on to make a couple of saves from long distance shots, but kept brilliant concentration through out the game which is so important – earning him training star this week ??

Will, Jude, Fin and Noah provided the central backbone of the team. Some great play between them both defensively and going forward. William absolute rock in defence, Fin looking very classy with some brilliant runs forward and Jude being strong and everywhere in his defensive mid role.

Kai, Ewan and Taylor controlled the wings and up front, creating some good chances and showing some lovely skills, all could have had goals which they would have deserved.

Noah despite not playing a match for nearly four weeks did superbly well. He showed great strength and energy and thoroughly deserved his great goal. Earlier in the game he nearly scored a wonder goal, having controlled a 20 yard high pass from Fin on his chest before smashing a shot that didn’t quite go in, awesome for an 8 year old! He deservedly received our Man of the Match ??⚽️

As always thanks for our great support and I am sure everyone enjoyed the game.
