U9 Weekend Match Reports

U9 Black -If you can’t play football, get physical.

It’s a good job the Blacks can play football and it seems the only team wanting to play football.

The game started well enough and the team soon settled into their normal passing routine. It soon became obvious to Clifton, that every time they tried to attacked we countered creating chance after chance. Clifton then decided to the purely stop us from playing football. Our boys changed nothing and showed how good they have become. Dan scored a good goal and the Colts were completely on top. An unfortunate misunderstand at the back meant that Clifton were awarded a let’s say ‘debatable’ penalty. 1 – 1 half time.

The 2nd half saw Lowdham continue to dominate and create lots of chances. Clifton still being physical resorted to the hopeful long ball. The pressure and the amount of chances were rewarded with a screamer from James , after another good passing move.

Despite the number of chances for Lowdham the game finished 2 – 1. The Clifton keeper had a storming game and must have made at least 10 great saves.

Match stats: Shots 30+ , Shots on target 20+ , Possession 75%, Passes made 400+ , Opposition chances 2, final score 1 – 2 to the Blacks. I think Clifton were happy with their 2 – 1 loss. Lowdham will be happy with the football they played.

Well done all the boy! Some great football. Well done to Cameron for getting MOTM.

Thanks to the Barmy Army, fantastic as ever! Please remember to keep behind the imaginary respect line in future 😉

?⚽️I Get By with a Little Help from my Friends…..⚽️?

It’s very rare that all seven 8 year olds will be on their “A” game for a match. This is why we work with the boys on team work, work rate and importantly communication. Because when a couple of boys have an off day or things don’t go their way, then it’s great to know their footballing mates are there to help ???

I can’t think of one game yet where all boys have been on their “A” game and that will be what I expect for the rest of the season, it’s part of learning and developing which in time will come.

So with that in mind for today’s game we were still fantastic ???

The boys dominated the first half, brilliant defensively but just could not covert the chances created. 0-0 at half time was harsh but as the boys played so well we were very happy.

The second half started the same with our boys dominating the play, defensively we were very solid with Will, Jude and Fin controlling. Sam barely had to make any important saves but yet again his instinctive distribution and communication was excellent. Against the run of play and possibly the first time the opposition got into our box they scored ?. But our boys heads didn’t drop and we carried on where we left off. Back on top we finally made all of our possession pay with a good goal made by Fin and finished by Ewan. The boys then pushed for a winner but couldn’t quite do it.

To summarise – a solid performance from our 7 boys, some amazing passing movement, very strong performances from Jude and Will, Kai and Taylor worked hard, Ewan was positionally excellent and Sam as mentioned a rock in goal. Importantly the boys worked really hard for each other. We really missed not having the option of bringing a sub on today as it would have made a difference, the positive is all boys got maximum game time.

Despite a couple of weeks off nursing his injured eye Fin came back with a bang ?. A little bit rusty in the first few minutes but grew into the game and finished it on fire! He played in attacking midfield today and was excellent, battling for everything, passing well and making some great runs forward and defensively. A cracking boy to have in the team with s brilliant positive attitude, Fin was our Man of the Match ??⚽️

Our training star this week is Ewan, he remembered what we have been doing in training and really worked on his positional play today. This is really important that we can see our boys showing what they are learning, well done Ewan, well deserved and a lovely goal as well ?⚽️

Thanks again parent for your support and hope you enjoyed the sloping pitch ? it’s a shocker lol
